The beginning of something important.
If you're a teacher in Canada right now, you're living through the biggest shift in education since the internet entered classrooms.
AI is already here. Your students are using it. Your colleagues are debating it. Your school board is scrambling to write a policy about it. And most of the guidance available? It's coming from US-based companies selling to US school districts with US curriculum in mind.
That's why AIForEdu exists.
This is a weekly newsletter built specifically for Canadian educators — teachers, principals, curriculum leads, and anyone working in K-12 education who wants to understand AI without the hype, the jargon, or the fear.
Every week, you'll get:
| 📌 |
The Big Story One deep dive on an AI + education topic that matters to Canadian classrooms. |
| 🔧 |
Tool of the Week One AI tool reviewed honestly for real classroom use. What it does, what it doesn't, and whether it's worth your time. |
| 🏛️ |
Policy Watch What's changing in Canadian AI education policy — federal and provincial — and what it actually means for your practice. |
| 🔗 |
Quick Links The best articles, resources, and research from the week — curated so you don't have to dig. |
| 💡 |

A bit about who's writing this.
My name is Qaisar Ahmed. I'm the founder of Impact Glocal Inc., a Canadian company based in Selkirk, Manitoba. I've spent over a decade working in education, digital inclusion, and community development across multiple countries.
I hold graduate degrees from Brandeis University and Canadian Mennonite University, and I've led education programs supported by organizations including the British Council, Google, and the Canadian government.
I started AIForEdu because I believe Canadian educators deserve a resource that speaks to their reality — their curriculum, their privacy laws, their classrooms. Not a Silicon Valley perspective repackaged for a Canadian audience, but something built here, for here.
What's coming next week
In Issue #2, we're diving into the five AI tools every Canadian teacher should know about heading into the next school year — and the one tool you should probably avoid.
